Abbott Chrisman

AC headshotTrained as an actor and director in the USA, Abbott Chrisman worked in the professional theatre for 17 years as actor, stage manager, designer and scenic artist, ending as Assistant Dramaturg at the Goodman Theatre, Chicago in 1988. He moved to DePaul University, giving courses in History of Dramatic Literature and Script Analysis at the Theatre School as well as Literature and Composition in the English Department. Since 1992 he has taught Public Speaking through body/mind awareness at Webster University, Geneva, along with courses in Theatre, Debate, Writing, Critical Thinking, Literature and Media.


He is a Somatic Experiencing® trauma healing practitioner. His work with body-centered learning is influenced by Alexander Technique, Dalcroze Eurhythmics, Continuum Movement, Authentic Movement, Feldenkrais and Non-violent Communication.

He has translated two plays from French into English, edited several books and written three children’s books. He works free-lance as a writer and editor in Public Relations and Corporate Communications.
